This is our Fabulous Fleecing Efforts! Go Team Otters!

Okay, final count is in:
142-147 blankets in all….. about 25-30 went to the Cancer Clinic (Leah Ann took them last week) and there are 97 tied blankets ready to go.  I spoke with the Kids Kottage and they have 44 kids at their facility right now and so said they would take 50 blankets.  @10 will go to the Renown Pediatric emergency room, @10 will go to Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, and the rest to the Children’s Cabinet.
We are going to deliver the blankets to the Kids Kottage and Children’s Cabinet today afterschool.

There were about 7 blankets that were made of a material that frayed  once we cut it, and we thought it wouldn’t be good to take those to the places that we donate to, so Marnie has offered to take them to the Humane Society.

Great job to everyone who participated this year, thanks again - we couldn’t have done it without you and all of our student’s donations and participation. J

I am so proud of this community. It is unbelievable what we have accomplished.  This community has raised over $400 for Breast Cancer, $10,000 for PTO, enough food to feed 170 families, over $1500 for Adrienne, a student in the Stanford hospital, and lastly, I had 3 5th grade boys come to me and ask  if they can sell Santa Grams and Tshirts to raise money for the Caughlin Fire Families. I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this school and community.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy the Holidays. Remember, TIME is more important than money. ;0)

Thanksgiving Week

I am so  excited to add this blog. 3 students from a 5th grade class came to me and asked if they could sell Santa Grams and tshirts to raise money for the Red Cross for the families that lost their homes in the Caughlin Fire. I told them they had to write up a proposal and submit it to me before Wed. They had it in my office the next day and then they designed the tshirt. I am proud to announce this fundraiser is off and running! Way to go boys! Here are the tshirst designs. Stop by the school and order yours today or call the school at 425-7710 to get yours ordered today!

November 21st...MY FIRST ATTEMPTS AT BLOGGING FOR SSES!

I was happy to announce this morning to our students that we gathered enough food for 170 families in need for Thanksgiving. That is awesome. Food was still coming in this morning! Our next event will be Santa's Workshop. The Workshop is set up in a classroom and students can come buy little presents for family or friends. Items are low in cost so students can afford it.
On another note, as I walked through the quad this afternoon, I saw more and more blankets being made so that we can donate them to Children's Cabinet, a non-profit resource for children in need. One of our staff members called Red Cross on Friday to see if they needed some blankets. We were ready to help those families put out by the Caughlin Ranch Fire, but they had enough by the time we called. What a great community we live in!
Speaking of giving, our families raised over $20,000 in our fund raiser. The PTO gets to keep $10,000 of that. Because we raised so much money, I had to wear a hippo suit! The students loved it.
